Classes for Young Children (ages 2 to 6)

children playing with wooden blocksOur Classes for Young Children incorporate hands-on activities, role-play, and self-guided investigation to build upon the natural curiosity of young learners. Programs encourage parent-child discovery in our 2½ and 3 year-olds, and peer-peer interactions in our 4 to 6 year-olds.

Teacher Workday Camps

The Museum offers safe and educational day-long programs that engage your child in avariety of science activities. Topics vary with each date, so sign up for themall!

  • Age 4 through 5th grade
  • 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • $65 per participant
  • Lunch option available: $4.75

Gardening Program Series

FOR MEMBERS ONLY!

Learn about how our lives and the earth are connected. Till soil, plant seeds, water, prune, weed, and enjoy! Each series culminates with a party to celebrate your hard work.

  • Ages 5-7 years old
  • Series of 5 Saturdays, April 18 - May 16
  • $75/participant *limit 8 participants/series

Flower Garden Series 10-11 a.m.
Food Garden Series 3-4 p.m.

Saturday Springboards 

With a springboard there is a set starting point, but an uncertain end. Participants will be provided with materials for exploration, a member of our Museum faculty and freedom to explore the manicured and un-manicured areas of our campus. You will get dirty. You will take risks. You will have fun.

  • 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
  • $35 members/ $45 non-members

Ready, Set, Net

What could you do with a jar and a net? What would you explore, observe, learn about? Let's see where our curiosities take us.

Spring Break Camps

Plan a great spring break full of discovery and exploration for your child! TheMuseum's Spring Break Camps offer a wide range of activities across our indoor/outdoor campus.

  • 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

  • Extended hours: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. $45

PreK–K

Pet Pals
Is your stuffed animal sick? Do you want teach your pet dog some new tricks? What would you feed a lemur? Learn how to be a veterinarian, animal trainer, and zookeeper. You will even learn how to be the best friend of a live goldfish!

Grades 1–2

Out of this World
When we look up in the sky we can see a small part of the universe. Learn about the pictures stars make in the sky and create a constellation that you can store in your pocket. We'll launch our own rockets and discover what makes up our solar system.

Grades 3–5

Junior Vets
What do different animals eat? What kind of habitat do animals need to be happy and healthy? What should you do if an animal gets sick or injured? Learn the answers to these questions through various activities, personal observation and the experience of taking care of an aquatic friend. You will even become certified in Pet First Aid! Special materials fee:$25.

Track-Out/Intersession Camp

Kids in Space
Come with us on an adventure through space. Learn about things you see in the night sky and things that are too far away to see. What pictures do the stars make in the sky? What does an astronaut need to live in space? We'll pretend to blast off and explore how our bodies might feel on another planet.
