WATER SCIENCE

Splash into Science    

Pools and popsicles, painting and playing – summer just wouldn’t be the same without water! We’ll turn water different colors, have water relay races, and imagine that we are water droplets on the ride of our life! Find out what makes water so fantastic and meet animals that call watery places “home”.

H2O Yeah!    

Cool off with hydro-science! In this camp we’ll make masterpieces with ice cubes and water guns, meet some wet and wild animals that live in puddles and streams, and shape our own summertime snowballs. Learn what the discovery of water on the moon means for life here on Earth, and beat the heat with our water relay races. You won’t want to miss this week of super-soaked fun!

FUTURE DOCTORS

Bones, Brains and Bandages

If you’ve ever thought about a career in the medical field, then this is the camp for you! We will work with staff from the Museum and UNC hospitals to read x-rays, try our hands at splinting and casting, and learn what to do if we find ourselves on the scene of an accident. We’ll even take a field trip to the hospital to see first-hand all the work that goes into keeping us healthy.

ART AND SCIENCE

Color Me a Scientist    

Experiment! Play! Create! Is there art that you can eat? How is balancing on one foot like sculpting? What’s the science of color, and how do artists use it in their masterpieces? Explore the answers to these questions and more all while creating your own works of art!

ANIMAL CARE

Pet Pals    

Is your stuffed animal sick? Do you want to teach your pet dog some new tricks? Learn what different animals need to stay healthy and how we can be responsible pet owners. You’ll also have some up-close encounters with Museum animals and help us take care of a small classroom pet!

Caring for Critters   

There are millions of different critters of all shapes and sizes on this planet. Learn about the animal kingdom and the ways animals are grouped together. Find out what it’s like to have a job as a veterinarian, animal trainer and zookeeper and help us care for a small classroom animal. We’ll also have some special animal visitors from the Museum!

Junior Vets

What do veterinarians do when an animal is sick or injured? How do they prepare diets that keep animals healthy? Learn the science behind animal care such as nutrition, training, habitat design and enrichment. You will also be introduced to basic first aid for pets and the entire group will be care takers to a small classroom pet!

ASTRONOMY

Space Explorers    

How do astronauts get ready for a trip to space? What do they take with them? In this camp we’ll go through astronaut training and blast off to explore a strange new planet! You won’t want to miss our rocket launch! Join us as we stream through our Solar System, learning about planets, moons, galaxies, and make a model black hole. Come imagine yourself an astronaut on a space adventure that you’ll never forget!

Astronauts in Training   

How do astronauts get ready for a trip to space? Learn about the exercise, eating, and research that astronauts do in real life, and try them all yourself as we blast off to explore a strange new planet! As we zoom through the Milky Way Galaxy you’ll make a constellation to take home. You won’t want to miss our splashdown as we return to Earth with samples, and you won’t believe what our chemistry experiments tell us about Planet X!

Astronaut Academy

Look up! Is that a blue star? Can you actually see a black hole? Is there really a cloud of comets? If your cosmic curiosity has gotten the best of you, come for a week of being amazed by space! Bring your questions, and we’ll find the answers… we’ll even have a NASA Solar System Ambassador here to wow us with photos, stories and videos from real space explorations!
