Teachers | Countdown to a Smooth Visit

Getting Started:

  • Enhance your field trip by signing up for a Museum program that correlates with your in-class curriculum and  NC Standards. (919) 220-5429 x313
  • Take advantage of the FREE Educator Preview prior to your visit. Plan ahead for the big day so that your students get the most out of their visit. 

At least two weeks before your visit:

  • Check your confirmation to make sure all of the information is correct. 
  • Pre-order sack lunches from Grayson's Cafe (919) 220-5429 x358

At least one week before your visit:

  •  Recruit responsible adults to act as chaperones on the day of your visit. We require one chaperon for every eight students grade 3-8 and one for every five students for pre-school through 2nd grade. 
  • Pre-order gift bags for your class so that everyone takes home a Museum memory! (919) 220-5429 x342
  • Decide if your group will ride the train on the day of their visit. Interested groups should arrange to have an additional $2/person for tickets. 

The day before your visit:

  • Designate one person as the group leader. The leader is responsible for checking in your group on the day of your visit. 
  • Make copies of directions to the Museum and campus maps to give to your chaperones.
  • Split your group into smaller teams and assign each team a chaperone.
  • Make sure chaperones know and understand the behavior expectations for the day of your visit.
