Our Exhibits | Investigate Health!
Opening Soon!
Investigate Health! is scheduled to open within the next few months – we're just finishing up fabrication and installation. In the meantime, our Health Lab is open, but please contact the Museum for information about its open hours.
The complete Investigate Health! exhibit will be a fun way to learn about health. Visitors to the Museum will have the chance to:
- Verify the science behind common health recommendations.
- Run a crash test simulation to discover why health experts recommend children use booster seats.
- Prove to yourself that washing hands does remove germs, and learn which spots you tend to miss!
- Use a special camera that demonstrates how sunscreen reflects UV light.
- Study live dust mites, a common cause of allergies.
- Experiment with the mind-body connection as you practice relaxation techniques.
We're Still Seeking Support for Investigate Health!

The National Institutes of Health grant of nearly $1 million will provide for exhibit design and most of the fabrication costs of the planned exhibit stations. To fabricate all of the stations important to the range of health and wellness issues identified during design development, the Museum is raising private funds of over $200,000. Most of this funding has been secured thanks to major contributions from The Cannon Foundation, National Science Foundation, Durham Regional Hospital, the Junior League of Durham and Orange Counties and NC Healthy Schools.
