All aboard! Climb aboard the Ellerbe Creek Railway for an old-time train ride through the Museum grounds. The 10-minute train ride makes two laps through our Nature Park on the beloved scaled replica C. P. Huntington locomotive, made possible by a generous donation from the Teer family.
What's new about the view from the train!
The new installation is a play on
objects that enlivens the acts of
noticing and observation–in a
whimsical and contradictory way.
A school of fish swims into the trees; a pasture of millet, sorghum, and sunflowers rises up from a clearing with bottle trees, a giant ball of vines, and topiary animals; large mirrors carried on the backs of delightful stick-people reflect the tree canopy and the sky overhead; fanciful bird houses and dashes of other sculpture line the tracks, and create a new experience for the imagination.
