Into the Mist

Get wet, stay cool and explore mist, landforms and water through several interactive experiences. Droplets of water suspended in air create low-lying clouds that hover over a bowl shaped depression in the earth and glide across small hills and valleys. The landforms confine the mist, small microclimates are created and the temperature drops, providing respite from summer’s heat.

A meandering dry stream illustrates how water erosion changes stones to pebbles. Rain falls, making impressions in sand and rhythmic sounds on rocks. There are surprises along the way as rainbows appear then disappear.  “It’s a wonderfully exploratory experience that mingles together art, science and play,” says Roy Griffiths, Vice President for Exhibits and Planning at the Museum of Life and Science.
