July 12
This all-day activity at the Museum’s new Fossil Dig Site will give you a special “sneak peek” of the Dinosaur Trail, planned to open in summer 2009
Dig for your own fossils in the Museum’s Fossil Dig Site with the help of expert Paleontologists, who will be on hand to help you identify what you find. You’ll also learn how dinosaurs lived and moved.
You just never know what you might find— all kinds of shark teeth (some up to about two inches long!), dolphin or whale teeth, fish vertebrae, shells, crocodile teeth and bones and much more. The Museum will provide digging tools, fossil identification charts and bags for you to take home your fossil treasures.
See hundreds of fossils on display. Exhibitors from the NC Fossil Club will be on hand all day Saturday showing fossils and talking about their collecting experiences. |
