Science Education Consultation for Educators of Age 3 to Grade 8
Boost your science curriculum with assistance from the Museum’s Education staff. We offer a variety of science topics and expertise to integrate science discovery and inquiry-based learning. Our science education professionals provide helpful guidance, mentoring, science classroom set-up, curriculum integration and on-site workshops!
Fees and Services
For $225 per contact hour, we will:
- Facilitate inquiry-based instruction
- Assist with science special event planning
- Help organize science centers in the classroom
- Assist with science materials management
- Provide ideas to involve children, parents and colleagues in science education at your school
- Develop custom programs

Workshops for Educators
Energize your students and encourage science discovery by choosing one of our science workshops for your staff or organization. All workshops are based on elementary-level themes from the NCSCS in Science and Math and are led by skilled Museum Educators at your site at the Museum for your group of 10 ore more participants.
Workshop Topics
Science Discovery for Young Children
Our Museum staff will teach you how to turn almost any classroom theme, from dinosaurs to dandelions, into an engaging science experience.
Storybook Science
Where’s the science in The Three Little Pigs and other classic stories? Literature can launch exciting science lessons based on NCSCS. Learn creative ways to make connections between literature and science, using books you may already use.
Inquiry Toolbox
Learn to create an orderly, cooperative and stimulating learning environment where students function independently. If you have been hesitant to try inquiry-based lessons because you’re afraid you will “lose control” of the class, this workshop will help you experience the effectiveness of inquiry-based learning.
Have Sum Fun Teaching Math
Discover easy ways to make math concepts engaging. Try a number of hands-on math activities designed to meet a range of student abilities. Whatever your teaching style, this workshop will return you to your classroom with great ideas! For grades 3-5 or 6-8.
Workshops include:
- Credit towards certification (if recognized by your school district)
- 2 or 3 hours of activities and inquiry-based experiences
- Take-home workshop packet with activities and resources
- Literature extensions
- Advance consultation to tailor workshops to your needs and interests
